Ritchie and Lola Moberly are MFT breeders and avid show horse supporters from the metropolitan Kansas City area. Their stable boasts several World Champion Fox Trotting horses. Lola was gracious enough to answer a few of our questions.
- Where are you from? Where do you ride? If you own a farm, tell us about it. We reside on a small farm in the Kansas City area, Liberty MO-to be exact. We don't ride anymore due to health issues, but love watching the shows and raising Foxtrotting babies.
- Where do you do professionally? Ritchie has long been involved in the cattle business and owned a commission firm in the Kansas City Stockyards until the yards closed in 1990. He is still active in the cattle business on a part time basis. I am a retired banking officer from Bank of America.
- How (and how long) have you been involved with Foxtrotting horses? We have owned Missouri Foxtrotters since the late 1980's, when we "borrowed" a Foxtrotter for one of our trail rides. We owned quarter horses at the time and borrowed a bay Foxtrotting mare from a friend when one of our quarter horses went lame. That was the end of the quarter horses for us and the beginning of our breeding program when we purchased that bay foxtrotting mare and decided to raise a foal.
